Rules & Requirements

Eligibility/Entry: There is no entry fee to submit a design. All entrants must be current student or alumni NTHS members. Only 1 design submission is allowed per person.

Rules & Guidelines:

  1.  All designs must be original creations of the contestant and incorporate all of the required design components outlined below. Submissions must not have been previously published and must not contain profanity, trademarks, other organizations’ logos, or any copyrighted works of any other person or business.
  2. Design must be created in Adobe, Canva, CorelDRAW, or other vector-editing software and submitted in .pdf format through this form by 11:59PM (EST) on October 31, 2024.
  3. By submitting your design, you agree to allow NTHS to use your design, free of charge, for any and all printing and promotional purposes.
  4. The contest winner must agree to submit a high-resolution, layered vector art file within 7 days of notification and agree to work with the NTHS Marketing & Engagement Director if any slight changes/modifications are necessary for production. If not, an alternate winner may be chosen to meet the production deadlines.

Required Design Components

The winning design will be placed on the front of a T-Shirt and be available for purchase through a pre-order on the NTHS website. The winning designer will also receive a free T-Shirt with their design.

  1. Theme: 2024 is the 40th anniversary of the National Technical Honor Society. Started in 1984 by two CTE teachers in South Carolina who wanted to recognize their outstanding CTE students, NTHS began and has grown exponentially since. The t-shirt design should find a creative way to celebrate the rich history of NTHS and the 40th anniversary of our amazing organization.
  2.  NTHS Logo: The NTHS logo must be used in the design. Click here for various file types/colorways of the official NTHS logo.
  3. Colors: The winning design will be printed on the front only on a t-shirt color of your choice. The design can use up to three (3) colors (not including the t-shirt color). *Colors may be modified for production, as necessary.

How Winner is Selected

  • Entries will be evaluated by an internal panel of judges and will be reviewed for:
    1. Concept and originality of design
    2. Visibility from a reasonable distance
    3. Adherence to design and submission rules and guidelines
    4. Successfully capturing the spirit of the 40th Anniversary of NTHS
    5. Totality of design and production readiness

Fine Print

Publicity and Agreement: Contest entry constitutes an agreement by the submitting designers to grant free license of all copyrights of the submitted works to NTHS in perpetuity, for publicity and promotional purposes.

Media Release: By submitting artwork, you agree that NTHS retains first printing rights and a free license, in perpetuity, to utilize the design on t-shirts and other promotional items, and marketing, fundraising, and public relations materials. You are guaranteeing that your design does not contain any copyrighted material, including images/copy found on the internet, unless clearly marked as published under a Creative Commons (cc) license.
