Pamela Wagner’s journey with the National Technical Honor Society is a powerful example of how leadership, service, and commitment can come full circle. From her beginnings as an NTHS member, to serving as Georgia’s State President at the student level, and now giving back as an NTHS Advisor, Pamela’s story reflects the lasting impact NTHS has on students and educators alike.

Pamela currently serves as an NTHS Advisor at Southern Regional Technical College in Tifton, Georgia. Her connection to NTHS is deeply personal. She began her  NTHS journey in August 2021 after returning to college later in life through Career and Technical Education. Through CTE, Pamela completed extensive coursework that equipped her with practical skills and opened doors to new career pathways, reinforcing her belief that education should always be used to serve others.

Her dedication to NTHS quickly grew beyond membership. As a student, Pamela served as a chapter president, then advanced to the state level where she held roles including Vice President/Historian before being elected State President. These leadership opportunities allowed her to strengthen her public speaking, advocacy, and service skills while representing students across Georgia. Today, she brings that same passion and experience into her role as an NTHS advisor, supporting students as they navigate the same paths she once walked.

Georgia’s state level NTHS structure plays a key role in developing student leaders like Pamela. The state includes 22 technical colleges, each with local NTHS chapters operating under the Technical College System of Georgia. At the state level, a committee made up of a state director, state advisor, and a student officer team oversees leadership development and programming. Students run for state offices during an annual spring conference, participate in training weekends, and lead initiatives that support chapters statewide. These experiences emphasize student-led leadership, collaboration, and service while preparing members for future careers and civic engagement.

Annie Harp, Georgia’s NTHS State Director, has had the unique opportunity to work alongside Pamela both as a student leader and now as a fellow advisor. Reflecting on Pamela’s impact, Annie shared, “She is a born leader who leads with love and discipline. She consistently asks students what she can do to help them get to where they want to be and constantly encourages them to push forward. Because she is a student turned advisor, she truly understands their journey, and they listen to her. She has a genuine passion for NTHS, and we are grateful to have her on our team.”

Pamela’s story highlights the heart of NTHS: leadership that grows through service and comes back to uplift the next generation. Her commitment to students, Career and Technical Education, and NTHS continues to make a meaningful difference across her campus and throughout Georgia.
