Career and Technical Education Month is a time to celebrate and recognize the achievements of students in CTE programs nationwide! In honor of this month, we are taking a closer look at eight of the most prominent student organizations in CTE: SkillsUSA, DECA, FCCLA, HOSA, TSA, FBLA, BPA and FFA. These career and technical student organizations (CTSOs) provide valuable opportunities for students to develop essential skills, participate in hands-on experiences, and engage in leadership development and service projects. SkillsUSA

SkillsUSA is a national organization that provides education and training opportunities for students in trade, industrial, technical, and health occupations. With more than 375,000 members across the country, SkillsUSA helps students develop the skills they need to succeed in their future careers and encourages them to participate in various competitions and events. Some of these events include the National Skills and Leadership Conference, where students can showcase their skills and network with industry professionals, as well as the SkillsUSA Championships, which showcase the best of America’s career and technical education students. SkillsUSA serves students in 13 of the 16 Career Clusters. Every year, NTHS partners with SkillsUSA to give out four $1,000 scholarships to students who are members of both organizations. DECA

DECA is a student-led organization that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management. With over 200,000 members nationwide, DECA provides opportunities for students to participate in hands-on experiences, leadership development, and competitions in areas such as business management, marketing, and entrepreneurship. DECA also hosts an annual International Career Development Conference, where students can participate in leadership workshops and network with industry professionals. DECA serves students in the Career Clusters of Marketing, Business Management, Hospitality & Tourism, and Finance. FCCLA

FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) is a national student organization that focuses on family and consumer sciences education. With over 160,000 members nationwide, FCCLA provides students with opportunities to participate in service projects, leadership development, and competitions that emphasize the importance of family and consumer sciences education. FCCLA also hosts an annual National Leadership Conference, where students can participate in leadership workshops and network with industry professionals. FCCLA serves students in the Career Clusters of Human Services, Hospitality & Tourism, Education & Training, and Visual Arts & Design. HOSA

HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) is a student-led organization for students who are interested in pursuing a career in the health care industry. With over 200,000 members nationwide, HOSA provides opportunities for students to participate in hands-on experiences, leadership development, and service projects, as well as competitions in health-related fields. HOSA also hosts an annual National Leadership Conference, where students can participate in leadership workshops and network with industry professionals. HOSA serves students in the Career Cluster of Health Science. Every year, NTHS partners with HOSA to give out seven $1,000 scholarships to students who are members of both organizations. TSA

TSA (Technology Student Association) is a student-led organization that focuses on technology education. With over 200,000 members nationwide, TSA provides students with opportunities to participate in hands-on experiences, leadership development, and competitions in areas such as engineering, computer science, and technology. TSA also hosts an annual National Leadership Conference, where students can participate in leadership workshops and network with industry professionals. FBLA

FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) is a student-led organization for students who are interested in pursuing a career in business. With over 200,000 members nationwide, FBLA provides students with opportunities to participate in leadership development, service projects, and competitions in areas such as accounting, marketing, and entrepreneurship. FBLA also hosts an annual National Leadership Conference, where students can participate in leadership workshops and network with industry professionals. FBLA serves students in the Career Clusters of Business, Management & Administration, Information Technology and Marketing. BPA

Business Professionals of America (BPA) is a student-led organization that prepares students for careers in business and technology. With over 40,000 members nationwide, BPA provides students with opportunities to participate in hands-on experiences, leadership development, and competitions in areas such as business management, finance, and information technology. BPA also hosts an annual National Leadership Conference, where students can participate in leadership workshops and network with industry professionals. BPA serves students in the Career Clusters of Business, Management and Administration, Information Technology and Marketing. By offering a range of opportunities for growth and development, BPA is an excellent resource for students looking to prepare for a successful career in the business and technology fields. FFA

FFA (Future Farmers of America) is a student-led organization that prepares students for careers in agriculture, food, and natural resources. With over 700,000 members nationwide, FFA provides opportunities for students to participate in hands-on experiences, leadership development, and service projects in the agriculture industry. FFA also hosts an annual National FFA Convention & Expo, where students can participate in leadership workshops and network with industry professionals.
