Everything You Need to Know About Induction Ceremonies
An induction ceremony creates a dedicated time and space to celebrate and recognize the academic accomplishments of your Career and Technical Education students who have been invited to join the National Technical Honor Society.
Here are helpful tips and resources to help you plan your Induction Ceremony.
Holding an Informational Meeting
Once you've determined who is eligible to be invited to join NTHS this school year, hold an informational meeting to let your nominees know what NTHS is all about and how to join.
7 Reasons to Hold TWO Induction Ceremonies This Year:
It’s never too early to start inducting students! Consider having a fall AND spring induction ceremony.
- More recognition for your school and program!
As educators, you know the value of repetition (especially when giving directions on an assignment). Promoting your program is the same! Having two induction ceremonies doubles your CTE program’s exposure within your school and community. Remember to send out those press releases after each induction ceremony. Your students and school get the recognition they deserve, and proud parents everywhere can clip those newspapers (or … screenshot those web articles!).
Spread out the workload, so you’re not overwhelmed.
We all know that spring is the busiest time in the education world – prom, senior events, regional CTSO conferences, end-of-year award ceremonies, exams, graduation, etc. By breaking up your ceremony into two smaller celebrations, you’ll have a more manageable list of inductees. In addition, the spring ceremony will be a breeze since you and your officers had plenty of time to practice and put on a fantastic fall induction beforehand!
Silver Star of Excellence Winners
We are excited to announce our Silver Star of Excellence winning chapters!
Every year, chapters have the opportunity to apply for the NTHS Silver Star of Excellence Award, which serves to recognize the hard work that chapters put in to maintain an active status, grow their membership, foster business/industry partnerships, and excel in the reflection, implementation and understanding of the NTHS Seven Attributes: Skill, Honesty, Service, Responsibility, Scholarship, Citizenship, and Leadership.
Last year we also introduced the new C. Allen Powell Service award, which is awarded to one of the Silver Star of Excellence winning chapters based on their dedication and quality of service to their community.
This year we are excited to recognize four chapters as winners of the Silver Star of Excellence Award:
California Virtual Academy
Simi Valley, CA
- Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northwest
- Tennessee College of Applied Technology Dickson-Clarksville Campus
- Fairfield Career Center
Special Congratulations to Oakland Schools Technical Campus Northwest for winning the C. Allen Powell Service award for their dedication and quality of service to their community.

New NTHS Honor Roll Inductee!
This month we are excited to induct our first student member into the National Technical Honor Society Honor Roll! Anna Beth Oliver from Russellville High School in Alabama was nominated by her HOSA advisor, who told us of her many accomplishments:
"She received the Presidential Excellence Award this year for completing over 100 hours of community service. She was selected as Career Tech Student of the month in December. She was inducted into Mu Alpha Theta, NTHS, National Honor Society, Sigma Kappa Delta, and Phi Theta Kappa this year as a junior in high school. She also served as President of RHS's HOSA this school year and as 2nd Vice President of the Key Club."
"CTE has allowed me to explore career options while in high school and gain valuable skills that I can use for the rest of my life. I have been involved in many leadership roles and learned attributes such as leadership, character, accountability, and responsibility."
- Anna Beth Oliver
Who should be recognized next?
Is there someone who has made a significant impact on your NTHS chapter? Consider nominating them for the NTHS Honor Roll! Nominees can be NTHS members, advisors, principals, counselors, business partners, NTHS staff, and any other individual you think deserves recognition.
