Are you Ready for CTE Month?
CTE Month (February) is a time to celebrate and recognize the value of CTE programs and the achievements of CTE students. National Technical Honor Society chapters can get involved and show their support by hosting a variety of activities during the month of February.
Possible CTE Month Activities:
-
Share the Honor: Awarding someone with an Honorary NTHS Membership is a great way to thank them and bring awareness to CTE, your chapter, and your programs. Honorary members receive a custom certificate, frame, an honorary membership pin, and a letter of congratulations from our Executive Director!
- Organize a local CTE skills competition: Whether in conjunction with a CTSO at your school or independently, encourage students to showcase their skills by hosting a competition in a variety of CTE areas, such as welding, automotive repair, or culinary arts. This can be a fun and interactive way for students to demonstrate their expertise and compete against their peers.
- Conduct a CTE service project: One of the National Technical Honor Society Core Four Objectives is community service, so why not use CTE Month as an opportunity to give back to the community? Consider organizing a service project that utilizes CTE skills, such as building a playground (Construction), cooking for the homeless (Culinary Arts), creating a social media campaign for a non-profit (Digital Media), or volunteering at a local library for preschool activities (Family & Consumer Sciences).
- Host a CTE guest speaker series: Invite industry professionals to come and speak to students about their experiences and the importance of CTE. This can be a great way to inspire students and help them see the real-world applications of their CTE training.
- Host a CTE career fair: Invite local businesses and organizations to come and share information about their industries and the types of jobs that are available. This can be a great opportunity for students to learn about different career paths and make connections with potential employers.
- Celebrate CTE Month with a social media campaign: Use social media to share information about the value of CTE and the achievements of CTE students. Encourage students, faculty, and community members to share their own CTE experiences and use hashtags like #NTHSisCTE #CTEMonth and #CTEinAction.
Don't forget to let us know what you're doing for CTE Month in your Chapter so we can feature you on social media and/or our NTHS Blog!

Order Grad Regalia Now to Beat the Rush!
As National Technical Honor Society members, your students have worked hard to earn their spot in the organization and deserve to be recognized for their achievements at graduation. One important way to show their pride and accomplishment is by wearing the official NTHS graduation regalia.
If you have students who are planning to graduate in the spring, now is the time to order their regalia. Waiting until the last minute can be risky, as there is often a rush on orders as graduation approaches. By ordering now, you can beat the crowd and make sure your students get their regalia in time for the special day.

New NTHS Honor Roll Inductee!
To celebrate our first NTHS Honor Roll inductee of 2023, we wanted to do something special, our very first Alumni spotlight!
Tamzid Razzaque, an NTHS alumni from Mount Hebron High School in Maryland, served as his school's NTHS vice president during his senior year, and has continued to utilize the resources and stay in contact with members and the chapter advisor, Mr.Gorleski, even after graduating.
When nominating Tamzid for the Honor Roll, Mr.Gorleski had this to say:
"In every activity I found Tamzid, I saw what reflects a passionate student in STEM wanting to make a difference. His projects, internships, and academic accomplishments are leveled with his volunteering, creativity, and leadership."
"My NTHS chapter significantly impacted my fellow chapter members' education and personal development. NTHS allowed them to participate in leadership development programs, attend industry-specific conferences and events, and network with professionals in their chosen fields."
-Tamzid Razzaque

How to Register New Members
Here are some upcoming important dates you may want to celebrate with your NTHS Members:
Remember that there is no national office registration deadline to enter new members. As the advisor, you can set your own deadline for applications for your students on the local chapter level. However, if necessary, you can always enter more students after your own deadline and submit a new order for memberships.
When deciding your deadline, consider the scholarship application windows (see above) to make sure your members are getting maximum access to their benefits and scholarship opportunities.
Silver Star of Excellence
The Silver Star of Excellence Award application is due on May 1, 2023 and is a great way for your chapter to receive the recognition it deserves for all its hard work. Only one application per chapter will be accepted. Only advisors have access to submit the application online.
