Your Connection to Excellence in CTE
|
|
|
|
February is right around the corner, and it's time to start thinking about how you can celebrate CTE Month. A great way to celebrate CTE Month is to recognize an impactful individual in your CTE community with an Honorary Membership into NTHS.
|
|
|
You can recognize:
- Industry Partners
- Teachers
- Community Leaders
- Administrators
- Local Businesses
- Parents
- Education and Government Leaders
- and more!
Awarding someone with an Honorary NTHS Membership is a great way to thank them and bring awareness to CTE, your chapter, and your programs.
Honorary members receive a custom certificate, frame, an honorary membership pin and a letter of congratulations from our Executive Director!
To recognize an honorary member in your community during CTE month, just log in to the advisor portal and click on "Register Honorary Members."

It's almost 2022, and what better way to plan for your future than to create some goals related to Career Development for your New Year's Resolutions!
Advisors - at your next chapter meeting, consider helping your NTHS members craft SMART career goals as New Year's Resolutions to prepare them for their next step. Use this worksheet to walk them through the SMART Goal writing process.
There are some sample SMART goals below to help them get started.
The Career Readiness Portal, powered by MajorClarity, is a great tool that can help students along each step of the Career Development process and provide the easy ability to measure their goals!
SAMPLE SMART GOALS:
- I will research five careers that I am interested in (SPECIFIC) and create a page (MEASURABLE) for each career that includes job descriptions, salaries, job outlook, and education requirements (ACHIEVABLE & RELEVANT) by January 31st(TIME-BOUND).
- I will complete 1 experiential activity in the Career Readiness Portal for a different career path each week (SPECIFIC) for 3 weeks (MEASURABLE). At the end of each activity, I’ll rate my interest in that career path and note in my career journal what I think I would enjoy most about that path and what may not be the best fit for me (ACHIEVABLE & RELEVANT). I will start on February 1st(TIME-BOUND).
- I will interview a professional in the field of graphic design by Feb 15. (SPECIFIC & TIME-BOUND). I will ask them the following questions, capture the answers in my career journal in the Career Readiness Portal: (MEASURABLE)
- What is a typical day like in this job?
- What are the most important types of items to have in my portfolio?
- What experiences do you recommend I get while in high school? (ACHIEVABLE & RELEVANT)
